Eva-Jane Lark really pushed me during our interview for Space Quarterly, and the result, as I’m sure everyone agrees, is a really good article on where we are in commercial space and where we are going both as a company and an industry.
So thanks EJ for a really good work of journalism which we receive nothing but praise from readers!

By Jeffrey Manber –
It’s been a difficult but worthwhile week for Mike Johnson and the NanoRacks team working payloads. We have onboard CRS-2 (SpaceX-2) multiple educational payloads spearheaded by Valley Christian High School in San Jose–not only has VCS designed, developed and is now ready for their own experiment, but the school has reached out to other high-schools and by sub-dividing a…

Alex Knapp spent weeks researching the NanoRacks’ story and it shows in one of most in-depth pieces written on us in a national business magazine. We even made the print edition – thanks to everyone who has written in and thanks to Alex for taking the time to get to know us.

By Jeffrey Manber –
It’s nice that after three years (not a long time) the industry is taking notice of NanoRacks. We have just completed our busiest quarter, which included having over 25 payloads on the latest SpaceX, becoming the first company to arrange for a small satellite to be deployed from the ISS and conducting a workshop with Space Florida for the international competition for 8…

By Jeffrey Manber – The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) is ready to open its doors in running the U.S. National Lab on space station. The idea of a non-profit running the operations on the U.S. side of the station and as a national lab is a wonderful step forward–and we are looking forward to working with everyone at CASIS.
In the coming months we will be working…

By Jeffrey Manber – We have been working around the clock to not only create proposals for NASA’s SBIR 2011, but to answer questions and work with other companies that are submitting proposals based on NanoRacks’ facilities and standards.
It’s been a strange experience. Multiple times over the past couple of weeks, Mike Johnson and his team have found themselves helping companies understand…

By Jeffrey Manber – The russian cargo ship Progress 44 p which launched today with more than 2 tons of cargo for the space station seems to have suffered a catastrophic failure.
The six person crew onboard the station is unaffected. There are also ample supplies. We are confident the Russian authorities will quickly pinpoint this, the first Russian hardware failure during ISS.
Finally, this…

By Jeffrey Manber – NanoRacks thanks the folks over at the Space Frontier Foundation for awarding their 2011 “Vision to Reality” award to us. As Jim Muncy explained, this award is not for space companies that are solely business plans or viewgraphs but for those that have accomplished real world space operations with a proven business model. Yes, that is possible now.
In giving us this…

By Jeffrey Manber – Last night, at about 23:00 Central time, the final NanoRacks’ payload on STS-135 was deactivated by the astronauts.
Included in that payload was the Israeli’s Fisher Institute’s second series of programs with us. By our reckoning, that deactivation was probably one of the final payloads to be shut down by the Atlantis crew, and hence one of the last payloads of the Spac…

By Mike Johnson – All went fine today. For those of you who have asked, this series of experiments is not using the NanoRacks’ platforms nor will be staying on the space station.
This payload is an “up and down” riding up on STS-134 and coming down on STS-134. You can see the pictures on our flickr account at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nanoracks
The good news is that the results hav…
