Director of Business Development – National Security

Nanoracks is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive growth of our National Security Space portfolio. In this position, you are responsible for the identification, pursuit, and successful capture of new business opportunities across U.S. Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. To this end, you will engage with external stakeholders, cultivate a robust pipeline of high-value opportunities, and develop and implement strategies that align and push the boundaries of Nanoracks capabilities to meet the current, emerging, and future needs of our customers.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Lead, plan, and ensure successful execution of business development efforts including the end-to-end capture lifecycle and strategic planning process.
  • Act as subject matter expert with customers on Nanoracks competencies and discriminating capabilities to that can be leveraged to meet their national security space needs.
  • Provide portfolio oversight on all aspects of national security portfolio, that includes development and execution growth strategies, identification (and creation) of new business opportunities, establishment of pursuit priorities, gaining and growing customer intimacy, and development of successful capture plans.
  • Coordinate Nanoracks business, technical, program, and financial resources to be responsive to new opportunities with development of tailored offerings/solutions that meet discerning customer needs.
  • Lead internal teams to prepare proposals, quotes and rough order of magnitude estimates, and responses to requests for information that are informed by strong customer engagement and competitive intelligence.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with current and new National Security Space customers (both U.S. Government and industry), recognized as a trusted and respected representative of Nanoracks.
  • Support the SVP of Business Development through cultivation of the pipeline, performance of market and competitive analyses, delivery of timely options and recommendations to address issues, new opportunities, and development of the Strategic Plan.
  • Manage multiple projects at once while engaging with various levels of customers, both internally and externally.
  • Lead researching efforts on new business, project-managing business development integrations, manage content for presentations and written proposals and managing programs to support growth throughout the company.
  •  Cultivate a pipeline of high value opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Nanoracks’ business and use a data-driven approach to identify profitable business opportunities.
  • Attend industry events to both establish the company, but also to network for potential new business and strengthen external relationships.
  • Assist in development, evolution, maturation, and execution of repeatable Business Development processes, to include use of industry best-practices, as well as creating, documenting, and implementing company-specific procedures.

 

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years professional experience in National Security Space, with notable direct, practical experience in Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community operations.
  • 10+ years of experience accomplishing and overseeing project management tasks with documented ability to prioritize work streams and track progress across multiple teams.
  • 8+ years leading/managing technical systems enterprise operations or acquisition across multiple geographic areas of responsibility.
  • Willing to travel 40%+.
  • Expert multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with exquisite attention to detail.
  • Ability to both lead and follow, and work collaboratively within and across teams.
  • Strong research and analytical skills and the ability to effectively communicate ideas, opportunities, issues, options, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Extremely strong written communications skills, demonstrated by both long-form expository composition as well as topical, terse, business briefs.
  • Ability to gain and maintain a security clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of management experience in business development, including end-to-end execution of capture process(es), understanding of business strategies, and developing high-quality, successful proposals.
  • Experience with DARPA programs, transition, and/or commercialization.
  • SOCOM experience in a technical support of procurement role.
  • DIAWA Acquisition Level 3, S&TM highly preferred.
  • Active TS/SCI.
  • Familiarity with the use of Shipley or other equivalent enterprise Project Management programs.
