Business Development Manager

Nanoracks Europe is looking for a business development manager to grow our customer portfolio and increase our networking in the field of emerging science, space and technology. As Business Development Manager you will report to Nanoracks’ Managing Director and will be responsible for developing the company’s business in the target markets.

In this position, the candidate will be responsible for finding, pursuing, and acquiring new business opportunities in different sectors. To this end, the candidate will interact with external stakeholders, build a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities, and develop and implement strategies that align and enhance Nanoracks Europe capabilities to meet the current, emerging, and future needs of our customers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, and ensure successful execution of business development activities, including the end-to-end capture lifecycle and strategic planning process.
  • Act as subject matter expert with customers on Nanoracks Europe competencies and distinctive capabilities that can be leveraged to meet their space needs.
  • Provide portfolio oversight on all aspects of customer portfolio, that includes development and execution of growth strategies, identification (and creation) of new business opportunities, establishment of pursuit priorities, building and expanding customer intimacy, and development of effective capture plans.
  • Coordinate Nanoracks Europe business, technical, programmatic, and financial resources to be responsive to new opportunities with the development of tailored offerings/solutions that meet discerning customer needs.
  • Lead internal teams in preparing proposals, quotes and rough order of magnitude estimates, and responses to requests for information that are based on strong customer engagement and competitive intelligence.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with current and new space customers (both government and industry), recognized as a trusted and respected representative of Nanoracks Europe.
  • Support the EU Managing Director and US SVP of Business Development through pipeline cultivation, performance of market and competitive analyses, delivery of timely options and recommendations to address issues, new opportunities, and development of the Strategic Plan.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously involving various levels of customers, both internally and externally.
  • Lead research efforts on new business, manage business development integration, manage content for presentations and written proposals and manage programs to support growth throughout the company.
  • Cultivate a pipeline of high value opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Nanoracks Europe business and use a data-driven approach to identify profitable business opportunities.
  • Attend industry events to establish the company, but also to network for potential new business and strengthen external relationships.
  • Assist in development, evolution, maturation, and execution of repeatable Business Development processes, that include use of industry best-practices, as well as creating, documenting, and implementing company-specific procedures.

 

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the space sector, with a solid knowledge of the customers, market, trends, and business opportunities.
  • Master’s degree in space-related disciplines, with a focus on business aspects, such as economics, management, law, or policy.
  • Excellent command of English and Italian, both written and spoken, and preferably another foreign language.
  • Availability to travel.
  • Time and priority management skills, with the ability to carry out multiple projects simultaneously, work fast and meet deadlines in a dynamic and competitive environment.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and follow, and to collaborate effectively with colleagues, partners and customers.
  • Strong research and analysis skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively ideas, opportunities, problems, options and recommendations to the business management.
  • Excellent written communication skills, demonstrated by both long-form expository compositions and short and incisive business documents.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in managing complex space projects, with the ability to coordinate and supervise multidisciplinary teams, respect budgets and timelines, and ensure the achievement of objectives.
  • Experience in participating in national and international tenders and competitions in the space sector, with the ability to write winning technical and commercial proposals, in line with the needs of customers and business strategies.
  • Experience in collaborating with public and private entities in the space sector, such as ESA, ASI, CNES, DLR.
  • Communication, negotiation, problem solving, leadership and teamwork skills.

 

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • A creative and independent problem solver, and an energetic self-starter with a practical mindset; desire to innovate and work in a fast-paced and operational environment.
  • Experience in managing contracts and funding in the space sector, with the ability to negotiate and monitor the conditions and performance of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of the national and European regulations and policies related to the space sector, and ability to interact with the competent authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Networking skills and ability to create strategic partnerships with other actors in the space sector, both public and private, at national and international level.
